Front access is at the end of Church Avenue. Six steps beside the Old Priest's House will get you into the churchyard which is particularly beautiful in Spring with masses of spring flowers and bulbs. During the Summer months the grass is kept tidy with regular cutting by a team of volunteers.

The area on the South side of the path is still open for burials but the rest is closed. We have a number of listed stones dating back to the 1700s. All our graves have been recorded with details of the writings on them - full details can be found in the Churchyard Catalogue.

Access for anyone with limited mobility can be via the footpath to the north of the church off Chaddlehanger Lane (see map image for access route and photo below for the footpath entrance). We have ramps into church with the outside one being in church which can be brought out if requested. We have an electric wheelchair which can be used by appointment. Parking is limited at St. Peter's with around eight to ten able to park in Church Avenue with similar on the Chaddlehanger Lane.

The Priest's House / Priest Room / Chapel

Ye Olde Priest's House Church house, now typicaly called The Priest Room, is of C13 origin, rebuilt late C16 reusing earlier materials, restoration of 1934 dated on front.  It can be found at the bottom of the churchyard, and you pass it on your left as you enter from Church Avenue. In the lower room we have a toilet and we use the rest of the space for storage. The upper room is a well used area - as a consecrated chapel, it is where we have some services, notably Holy Communion each Wednesday at 10.00am. On alternate Friday's we have 'Coffee and Company' mornings - please see our diary to confirm dates.

It is also a very useful meeting room which can seat around twenty people and is available to hire. There is a small kitchen area for making teas and coffees. Please contact one of our churchwardens for more information on hiring this space.

Inside St Peter's Church

We are fortunate in having a very beautiful Reredos behind the Altar depicting the Last Supper in the centre. This is flanked by mosaics with the Lord's Prayer on one side and the Creed on the other. Either side of the stained glass window are the Ten Commandments.  At the opposite end of the church we have a beautiful mural that you can read more about here.
